What’s new
Recent changes to the campsite map and trip planner, with the limits to keep in mind while testing.
· v2.46.5
A clearer view, a simpler start
The homepage has a simpler photographic layout, organized map shortcuts and more readable guides. The map, saved stops and planning tools are unchanged.
· v2.46.4
Choose your map view
Start with parking options, rest areas, dump stations, free camping or BLM land. The full map and planning tools remain available. Installation help is still available after you explore.
· v2.46.3
A faster start and clearer mobile tools
- The map starts when you need it. Optional language files and smaller mobile images reduce the initial download.
- Saved stops can request stronger browser storage and offer GPX backup reminders. Keep an exported backup.
- Mobile filters and saved stops use full-height panels with persistent controls. Car-route limitations remain visible with route results.
· v2.45.0
A new look for your next stop
The homepage now pairs a photorealistic landscape with a real KampTrail map preview. Map controls are grouped beside the search tools, and the beta invitation, installation help, guides, and free tools remain available.
· v2.44.0
A clearer welcome to the public beta
- The homepage explains the beta and gives testers four practical steps to try.
- Meet Chuck from Boondock or Bust and learn why he is building KampTrail.
- Workflow cards link directly to short videos about land management, multiple stops, and offline Topo maps.
- First-trip questions explain installation, local saves, data limits, and car routing.
- Free tools and Guides connect KampTrail to existing Boondock or Bust resources.
· v2.43.0
Safety and privacy information
Added safety acknowledgement before protected features and dedicated Terms of Use, Safety Disclaimer, and About and Privacy pages.
Current beta limitations
- Campsite and service coverage varies. Source dates describe records, not a recent field inspection. Confirm current conditions with the operator.
- Routes use car routing. RV dimensions and clearance warnings do not guarantee safe passage.
- Carrier coverage overlays are unavailable. Dated camper signal reports and external coverage links are separate information.
- Saved stops stay on this device and browser. Offline use requires preparation and available browser storage.
What we need help testing
Try finding a familiar place, checking its details, saving a stop, and finding it again after reloading. Tell us where you get stuck and what information you need before deciding to visit.
